Evaluating a Network Marketing Home Business – Which Products Should You Sell?

You’ve done it! You’ve decided to jump into the water and start your own network marketing home business. But which one? How do you decide which company best suits your needs and provides the best opportunity for short term sales and long term growth?

The task of choosing the right business for you can seem daunting. After all, there’s a lot to consider– the compensation plan, company leadership, in-house training, and many other factors. But it’s always best to start at the beginning, and that means deciding which products you wish to sell.

Here are 3 criteria to use when deciding which products to sell:

1. Are The Products Unique and Difficult to Copy?

When you are evaluating a Network Marketing company for a potential partnership, it is important to temporarily remove the business opportunity from the initial equation and focus, instead on the product line. Are the products unique or are they “more of the same”? For example, the market is over-saturated with the latest juices, lotions, potions, and pills offered by many MLM companies. The competition for these products is fierce and cutthroat.

Instead, look for products that are unique in the marketplace. This will mean less competition and faster growth of your new business. To test this, do a Google search of the product type and see what kind of results you get. If the results are filled with page after page of the same type product line offered by many different companies, then this is a bad sign.

If you find a company with unique products, are they difficult to copy? You would be surprised how many great products fall into obscurity because someone found a way to copy the idea and create massive competition. The best products to market are ones that are unique AND not easily copied.

2. Are the Products in High Demand?

The uniqueness of a product will hardly matter if no one wants it. For example, you might find a very unusual company that sells widgets that automatically digs the dirt out from under your finger and toe nails. Might be useful to some, I guess. But I think most of us will save our cash and do this bit of personal hygiene the old fashioned way — with a mechanical nail clipper.

It’s essential that the products you market be in high demand in the marketplace. If not, you’ll have a hard time convincing potential business partners to join you.

3.. Do The Products Offer Real Value to the Consumer?

You must also consider the VALUE of the product to the customer. Will the product line offer true value to the consumer? We all want to feel good about the products we market and believe that their purchase adds to the lives of our customers in a significant way. Only you can make that determination, but one of the best ways I know to test the value of a product is to ask yourself, “If I purchased this product, would it add anything positive to my life”

If the answer is NO, then you should continue your search for the right business.

If the products you’re marketing aren’t unique, in high demand, and of great value to your customer, then It won’t really matter how good the company compensation plan is — chances are very high you will make little to no money marketing these products.

Just as important in Network Marketing, if you cannot convince a business prospect that your company’s products are worth selling than chances are very high that no one will join your team and you’ll experience little to no growth in your business.

As you can tell, choosing the right products on which to base your new Network Marketing business is extremely important, and a very personal decision. If you get this wrong at the start, nothing else really matters.
